Sometimes dreams have served as seed ideas for complete stories. Here are a few dreams hyper-linked to the eventual stories. Several months usually elapse between the dream and the writing.

(Dreamt during northerly storm -- wakened numerous times by wind and direct light of moon.)
Small coastal village in Oregon, dilapidated.
Image -- large "framework", boat moored to seaside hotel, collapsing inward from winds, and sinking.
Tourists -- English, French, German -- buy entire village
Romantic encounter with English girl
Village men all disappear to sea, becoming seals (or otters?)

The Book of Plans -- plans for everything, from embroidery details to a sea-going junk. (PURO? SURO?)
Small model of junk, looking cut in half. Model about ten feet long.
(Seed idea for the short story The Book of Plans)

I am taking a 12 yr old (Duncan) backward in time to show him that the nature of events is not determined until it has been interpreted and described verbally in the mind.

The Perfect Word, the Great Word. A word grid the size of a crossword puzzle (without spaces.) In SE Asia many thousands of years ago. Made up of 3 & 4 letter words from all existing languages. Catastrophically destroyed. Its perfection understood by all, and never since. Still trying to reassemble pieces, but they do not connect to each other.
