Jane Fonda arrives at meeting and hastily places a dedicatory candle on a long ramp, looking hurried, wearing hippie western gear. I approach and say something like "let's go get 'em."

On the road in some large vehicle. Stop in small community to find Xerox. Community built around several military vessels (a memorial). Given directions at shop. =turn on radio= Start dreaming I'm in room listening to lecturer. When it repeats, everyone in dream gets up and walks out of the room, leaving me to discover it's only a tape player.

Raised freeway stacked with immobile boats so thickly packed I am walking along them toward (?). Surprised when I pass one or two with stoves going.

Numerous dinghies lying along tidelands, tied to bushes, etc. Wide tideland.

Carrying half-dinghy under my arm toward shore and boat- storage freeway.

Between terms at college, students looking for good quarters, pretty girls, sexual connotations. Young artists impressing each other -- nostalgic mood. I am in a set of rooms that is changing hands, but it doesn't seem to have belonged to me, nor is it clear I am a student.

Guru Nitya has invented a new graphic process, which involves using a black and white background with an overlay "envelope" of color. Color seems to be a non-miscible solution which holds forms, but allows them to change slightly.

DSB refuses to accept the name, even when shortened to "Tagalog." During the dispute the phrase, "Show me your six dollar pearls!" becomes an in-joke.

KWB passes word through George Young that no reunion with me is possible, after having considered it.

Nested dream: Dream, recognize I'm dreaming and start to rehearse it so I'll remember. Then another dream referring to first dream and the process of remembering, and then it hopelessly fades away in the process of remembering.

Second dream: about first dream. Pushing along in darkness (breaking glasses) bumping into people. Something about automatic transmission, start talking to guy in darkness (Fleishman of Northern Exposure, ask, "What's that power source I remember as "automatic transmission?" He says "It's like automatic transmission", I say, "Oh, it was automatic transmission . Who's that with you?" and voice answers: "Beast." "Beast?" "Beast." --which paralleled structure of first dream, now already forgotten as I try to remember the nesting of the second commenting dream. (wake up at 12:30 to write this)

I make my way back to a decrepit Reed, in levis, t- shirt, crewcut, backpack and M-38 jacket. Have mahavakya with me: TAT TVAM ASI, AUM TAT SAT, TATHAGATHA.

I spring locks to rundown building, see two old teachers, sneak back out. In main building is elaborate formal celebration (anniversary?) Someone recognizes me, reminds me I am having a show in some mid-western city where they are using seven separate accounts to keep track of it.

Present at congratulations of woman on taking care of her boat. Main beam is a steel beam amidships.

Following a torpedo track into crowded harbor, a convex basin. Ashore, everything in colorful pastels. Children in vivid uniform lined up. Shops. People look good. Shopkeeper takes my cigarette, tells me this is heaven or hell. "How can you tell which?" "In heaven you can," he says.

A distant guest at a party the night before I begin to return home. Host tells me a room will cost $300. Friend's mother removes shorts from under her tunic and teases me. Trip is to be south down coast.
