Some friends show up, and some unknowns. I am wearing an unaccustomed silk robe, and it turns out I am to speak at a poetry conference. (Song lyric: "Tell me the truth/Not just another explanation."

I go out wandering around a semi-destroyed huge concrete building. This is an American veterans hospital in Guadalajara. Wind up holding a wounded veteran in my arms, both weeping. Others come to shake his hand and welcome him.

A hexagonal "magic square" of letters, about 6 or 7 letters per face -- which is a compositional device. Letters are note names, progressing counterclockwise around edge, plus straight lines across figure.

Living in many roomed old building. Discover a one man airplane in pieces in one room. Guy is pleasant, but won't answer any questions. Then discover about a dozen people, all adults, moving in all over house. Dark complexions, ordinary looks. No one speaks, and no one will answer my questions. One takes me to a table and shows me small stands with golden crucifixes, and crystal pendants with vaguely Greek decoration -- quite beautiful, & apparently made by them.

Dreamscape-huge house at south end of Interstate Bridge, overlooking canyon. Look out window at sunset, see line of hippos going upstream. Open door & canyon is far below -- a different riverscape. Decide to go look for my cabin, thinking it is around here. Interior with guys and large stereo equipment. Want to play my electronic tape. Ask them if my disorientation is a psychedelic trick.
